About Me

rdarrenpinterviewLooking for a journalist who can go after breaking news, tell an engaging feature story, churn out gleaming copy for the web, pull in audiences through engaging social media posts and enhance coverage with photos and video? You’ve come to the right place.

My name is Darren Price, and I am a reporter and online journalist based in Brooklyn, NY. I specialize in breaking news and feature reporting, website management and social media, but I’ve handled just about every other newsroom duty at one point or another.

Currently, I am a digital content producer and web editor for NBC 4 New York in New York City. In the past year, I’ve written on some of the tri-state’s biggest stories, including the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman and the fallout from New York City’s first and only Ebola diagnosis. I also played key roles during coverage of the Eric Garner chokehold death, the protests that followed and the tragic deaths of two NYPD officers in December of 2014.

Previously, I was a public safety beat reporter and website manager for The State newspaper in Columbia, South Carolina. While there, I was the first set of boots on the ground for major crime and breaking news stories and I was one of the go-to journalists in the newsroom when it came to finding new ways to attract and keep readers online.

I’ve also worked for the Ponte Vedra Recorder in Ponte Vedra, Florida, The Item newspaper in Sumter, South Carolina, and the Clarendon Sun in Manning, South Carolina.

If you’d like to learn a little bit more about where I’ve worked and what I’m capable of, see my resume.
